Orbital are the best.
The CD 'In Sides' is epic.
The best CD ever imo.
The track 'out there somewhere' sends me in outerspace.
And I don't need any chemicals with that. :)
I like Trance off course, but I listen to some House and some Mininal from
time to time.
Titles and producer names are very tricky for me.'
They seem to dissolve in my head.
I like the work of Above and Beyond.
The remix of Madonna - What it feels like for a girl is about the best
collaboration between a hit factory and Trance imo.
Joris Voorn is my minimal hero. He has a typical 'plinky-plonky' style which
you have to play as loud as you can.
My neighbours love me for playing Joris. :)
If you want, I can send you a link to one of his DJ sets.
I've just finished remixing a few tracks from our 'in house' trance producer
Matt Pincer.
His style tracks is a mix between Nu Energy and a darker 'German' style.
Very uplifting.
There is not much activity lately on the list. But a few years ago you
couldn't almost keep up with the number of discussions.
It seems everyone is blogging nowadays.
I hope the old days of the mailing list is coming back.

Everything Techno???
I totally agree that age has something to do with music taste. (this
convo is actualy way more interesting than what i was origanally
hoping to talk about!) My personal taste had been very varied up to
discovering EDM. I never really had a music "taste" untill i was 14
(when i discovered EDM) and sinse then i have never looked back.
Within EDM my taste has grown (one of the first albums i bought
was "Clubland 8" which i now cringe if i put on its so cheesy....now
i listen to "Orbital" considered one of the best producers of EDM
ever)
Addmittedly my taste still wavers now and then but my favourite is
trance and i always end up back listening to that after a while of
other EDM like House and techno.
Trance is so fragmented and encorporates a huge amount of music that
even contemporary trance sounds completely different to other
comtemporary trance e.g Sasha's "Who Killed Sparky?" and Andre Visior
& Kay Stones "Something For Your Mind"
You say 1999 trance sounds completely different to present trance but
1999 trance also sounded comepletey different to 1990 trance as well.
By 1999 it was also less "entrancing" which is how the genre got its
name in the 1st place.
Indeed, lots of people recon trance is dead but i simply think it has
evolved again. Old school trance enthusiasts claimed it was dead/
sell out genre in 1996 (when progressive trance came along) while
most respected producers like Sahsa claimed this in 2000 and opted
for a newer form of progressive trance and house which was a better
time to make the move as 1996-2000 saw some of the greatest trance
tracks ever.
Im not sure whether you were trying to say to me that my tastes will
be changed/influenced or whether you were refering generally but im
the only person at my school (and that i know) that listens to proper
EDM so my taste doesnt change to fit in with the corwed becasue i
already stick out becasue of my music taste! Which is agood thing as
my tastes will progress naturally. Its really nice having songs that
i didnt listen to before becasue i didnt appreciate them then
suddenly sounding amazing. But like i said before, trance is always
(i think) going to be my favouite.
I suddenly realised i have written a mini essay there (sorry about
that...i get carried away sometimes with these matters!)
So Bart...what about you??? What sorts of EDM are you into? How have
your tastes changed and all that? (and anyone else for that matter?)
Also, do you check regularly the email that comes up when i get
messeges form you??? Its just it mite be easier to continue the convo
via our email so everyone in this group doesnt have to keep getting
our messages????
