It has nothing to do with age imo, it's just the magnitude of the different
styles and sub styles that gets people to simplify all the styles to one
category.
(Like every "boom-clap, boom-clap" is similar to Disco)
Maybe it's only to avoid discussion because of their own ignorance.
And it's the exception that proves the rule.
Not every parent stops his interest for contemporary music when the kids
arrive..

Old people (i.e my mum and dads age) still say house is disco when im
listening to it. I get comments along the lines of: "it sounds like
a disco in there" "whats this disco music you are listening to?"
Subsequently I change to something like Hard House to stop it before
they might start telling me stories from when they were younger and
went to the discos!!!
They are allowed to call it that though.....they have been out of
that style of music too long to know whats going on!!!
